MARVINE
AT CINCINNATI LAX OPENER Marvine plays in loss to ranked Vanderbilt
The Girls' Varsity traveled to Tennessee
to play and to watch Haley Marvine's (CHS Class of '07) University
of Cincinnati Bearcats team play the 10th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores

enthusiastic cheering section as just about the entire CHS varsity
squad, their coaches, the parent chaperones and the Marvine family
gave Haley a rousing welcome as she entered the game to tend the
Bearcats' goal. The Cincinnati girls ended up on the short end of
the score, 20-4, but Haley faced six shots on her goal with four
saves and just two goals scored by an outstanding Commodore team.
The Varsity also played lost its scrimmage 16-8 to the Ravenwood

blogger wrote, "For the first time, a team from Atlanta -
yes, the one in Georgia - came along. There are two big sports
in the Deep South - college football and high-school football.
You would never think lax would flourish.
But the team from Georgia won some games in this tournament and stood up well
against programs that have been established for decades."

Project Open Hand Boys' Lacrosse Lends a Helping Hand
The Chattahoochee Boys Lacrosse team and friends volunteered for
their first Project Open Hand on Sunday, January 14. Project
Open Hand delivers 4,000 meals a day to people who cannot get out on
their own to feed themselves. The boys wrapped, labeled, bagged,
tied and organized the meals. The time went by very quickly and
the kids had a lot of fun doing it. We appreciate the dancing
by Danny, Jac and Ms. Kodish! Beau was a natural in the food
area and Alex looked really cute with his hair net! I think the
boys were talking about starting "the hairnet gang".
The boys’ lacrosse team has committed
to this volunteer program every month. What a great way to give back
to the community! This worthwhile organization depends on over 100 volunteers
a day to help prepare and deliver these meals. To volunteer, contact
Jill Maxon (jill.maxon@yahoo.com),
and for more information about Project Open Hand visit their website
at www.projectopenhand.org.
Georgia Special Olympics
Hooch
Girls enjoy volunteering
In support of team trainer, Jennifer Everett, Chattahoochee Girls Lacrosse
sponsored a group of volunteers at the Georgia Special Olympics on January
21. Jen, an athlete in the bowling venue at the games, is on a unified
team with her sister Sarah Everett (also a member of the CHS Lax community).
The volunteers encouraged and guided the athletes as they bowled. Jennifer
was thrilled to have the support of the Hooch community behind her. The
Hooch Lacrosse volunteers enjoyed participating so much that they plan
to make this an annual tradition. Hooch
Pride!
The Georgia PTA and the Georgia Special Olympics
partner together to encourage schools and teams to participate in Special
Olympics as buddies, unified partners, coaches and volunteers. For
more information about volunteering contact Georgia Special Olympics

A group of returning Varsity players who participated in the Dixie Chix Fall League, traveled to North Carolina on November 19, 2006 to compete in the Carolina Challenge hosted by UNC at Chapel Hill. Chattahoochee
represented at Duke summer camp Seven play in championship game Twenty players from Chattahoochee attended
the Duke University lacrosse camp July 23-25. It was a great opportunity
as our girls benefited from an excellent coaching staff, played with
and against talented girls from other states at a premier university
with outstanding facilities. In addition, and just as important,
the girls had a great time together – on and off the field.
Additionally, seven Hooch girls played in the
championship game.
We are looking forward to seeing the girls
continue to utilize what they have learned in the upcoming fall league
